SRINAGAR, June 11: As decided by the Governor, N.N. Vohra, who is Chairman of Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, in the Yatra Review Meeting taken by him on June 9, 2014, R K Gupta, Chief Executive Officer, Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, undertook a day long visit to the Yatra area for assessing the existing condition of the Baltal-Panjtarni track.
The CEO, accompanied by Shri Preet Pal Singh, Additional CEO; R.K. Pandita, GM (Works); Camp Directors and Additional Camp Directors of Baltal and Panjtarni Camps, also reviewed the Yatra arrangements which are required to be made at Baltal and Panjtarni Camps.
On return to Srinagar, the CEO informed the Chairman that the entire Panjtarni Camp area is still covered by considerable snow. Further, several critical stretches between Railpathri to Brarimarg and Sangam Top to Holy Cave have been very badly damaged by the extensive snow accumulation and require urgent repairs. In this context, the CEO has asked the R&B Ganderbal and PDA to immediately deploy additional labour, on double shift basis, in order to ensure that the tracks are fully restored by 20th June 2014.
The CEO also reviewed the overall status of repair work in a meeting held at the Baltal Base Camp with officers of the PHE, PDD and R&B Departments; Camp Directors and Additional Camp Directors of Baltal, Domel, Neelgrath, Sangam, Panjtarni and Holy Cave. Mr. Gupta particularly reviewed the work so far done for ensuring electric supply, water supply and restoration of the Rangamorh-Domel Road.
At Panjtarni Camp, the CEO gave directions to the Shrine Board Engineering Wing to put in time bond effort to restore the snow damaged infrastructure by June 14, 2014 so that the Camp Director and Additional Camp Director could be positioned there from June 15, 2014 onwards. He also asked the Engineering Wing to daily report progress of the repair and restoration work.
As earlier decided by the Chairman Shrine Board, the CEO will undertake a similar ground survey of the Pahalgam route on June 12-13, 2014.
