JAMMU, Jan 16: To discuss the arrangements for celebration of National Voter’s Day on January 25, 2013, Chief Electoral Officer Umang Narula convened a meeting of concerned officers here today.
Director School Education Dev Lata, Director Youth Services and Sports Jaipal Singh, Joint Chief Electoral Officer Har Charan Singh, Joint Director Information Jammu Inder Jeet, Secretary JMC Naresh Kumar and Principal GCW Gandhi Nagar Kiran Bakshi attended the meeting.
Deliberating on various issues pertaining to National Voter’s Day, it was informed that Election Photo Identity Cards (EPICs) and Badges will be distributed to newly registered electors at polling stations through Booth Level Officers besides at District Headquarters, the District Election officers would celebrate the National Voters Day with the involvement of Panchayat organizations, academic institutions, civil society groups, organization of youth volunteers viz. NSS, NCC, Scouts and guides, NYK and others.
It was also informed that pledge will be administered to the newly registered voters while distributing EPICs on National Voter’s Day.
“Young Voters Festival” through competitions which include Debates, Paintings, Quiz competitions on the topics relating to Election on National Voters’ Day will be organized at District Headquarters and prizes to the best participants will be distributed at District and Tehsil Level.
To observe the national day, cycle rallies and road march of students will be organized at District and Tehsil Level and mock polls would also be held as part of NVD event.
It was decided that CDs of National Icons should be displayed at District HQ and Polling Station level function while Radio and TV talks can also be conducted to highlight the importance of the voter’s registration in electoral process.
CEO enjoined upon all the officers to put in place all the arrangements well in time for the smooth and enthusiastic celebrations of the National Voters Day.
