Centre-State discuss rehab of KPs

NEW DELHI, Apr 13:  Amidst tension in parts of Kashmir, the Centre today reviewed the law and order situation in Jammu and Kashmir besides plans for early rehabilitation of displaced Pandits.
Senior officials of the Home Ministry and the Jammu and Kashmir Government were closeted for an hour and discussed the prevailing security situation in the State and how to improve it further.
Today’s discussion came a day after Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and discussed various issues, including law and order situation in the State.
Issues related to Kashmiri migrants and their rehabilitation was discussed threadbare by the officials of the state and Central Governments, official sources said.
Officials of the State Government, including Principal Secretary (Home) R K Goyal, sought the Centre’s cooperation for modernisation of police forces, especially for setting up women police stations, sources said.
Home Ministry’s Special Secretary (Internal Security) M K Singla, Joint Secretary (Kashmir) Rajit Punhani also attended the meeting. (PTI)
