Centre reviewing labour laws: Rajnath

LUCKNOW, Sept 30:  Terming some labour laws as hurdles in the welfare of workers and employers, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh today said the centre is reviewing 44 old laws and if required irrelevant ones would be scrapped.
“Several hurdles are faced due to some labour laws. There are 44 laws which are being reviewed by the centre,” Rajnath said while addressing EPS Pensioners Felicitation programme here.
“Amendment proposal for 12 laws is ready. If required old and irrelevant laws will be scrapped,” he said.
The Union Minister said that hike in minimum pension to Rs 1,000 by Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation would create a burden of Rs 11,000 crore on the centre.
He said that this amount would be compensated by the centre and burden would not be created on the people. (PTI)
