JAMMU, Apr 21: Former minister and senior Congress leader Dr Manohar Lal Sharma today said that BJP led Government at the Centre can order CBI probe if it is popular public demand from district Kathua and civil society in Jammu.
In a press statement issued here today, Dr Sharma said the state has shown serious concerns over day by day deteriorating condition. He questioned the non-serious approach of the BJP-PDP Govt in providing justice to the victim of the Rassana case.
He said the fake assurances of the public safety were exposed in this case as the Govt has failed firstly to stop the event to happen and later to take timely action and channelize the investigation process. The resultant of which is undue delay and a state of confusion and chaos among the people of the state, which is persistent till date.
It is clearly evident in the whole Rasana case, that initially the proactive role of State Government’s leadership was totally missing..
The Govt. came out of sleep only after people raises hue and cry. Even after intervention, the Govt seems more concerned in politicizing the case of rape and murder of minor girl and has surprisingly shown least interest for a fair trial as evident by various moves taken by the Govt in this case.
Dr Sharma lamented the statements of DrJatinder Singh who said that CBI inquiry can be initiated if State Govt recommends, and similar statement of Dr Nirmal Singh who said that CBI inquiry can be initiated on the directions of court.
Dr Sharma said that on one hand BJP is enjoying power in the Centre and is also part and parcel in the State Govt and on the other hand the BJP leaders are misleading the Jammuites by giving such statements. He questioned that why BJP is reluctant in ordering the CBI inquiry and who is stopping them from doing so.
