The observance of Accession Day at large scale in J&K is a step in the right direction and the remembrance of war heroes is a moral to inculcate the spirit of nationalism amongst the countrymen. Stating this the former Union Minister, Prof Chaman Lal Gupta said that though in general there was little need for this observance as Maharaja of J&K had used his legal authority like all about 560 Rajas and Nawabs of the country but in this State the need for it seems so but for the disinformation campaign of the dubious characters and the misleading protest against landing of the Indian troops in Kashmir on October 27, 1947, in wake of completion of the accession. This would be a rebuff to the separatists as also to those who dispute the finality of the Accession, he added and questioned their sincerity in their cries even after taking the oath of the constitution and enjoying benefits thereof. It was strange that some controversial elements still raise questions about the finality of the accession, he added and said that the only question is that when Pakistan would vacate the illegally occupied areas of this State. Prof Gupta said that the protests of the separatists were confined just to certain parts of the Valley alone. The Valley is just one eighth of J&K. And even in the Kashmir valley all are not secessionists. There number is limited and most people in Kashmir too, are being forced to act like hostages and lakhs of natives have been forced out to become refugees within their country.
