CEC visits flood affected area, assures land reclamation

LEH, Aug 11: Chief Executive Councillor (CEC) Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Dorjey Mutup visited the flood affected area in Saboo village.
Executive Councilor Tourism, Tsering Sandup, Councilor Pheyang Phuntsog Dorjey accompanied the CEC.
CEC took stock of the damages caused to agricultural lands and houses. He interacted with the flood affected families. He said that in this time of disaster council is committed to stand behind all the affected families and assist them in all possible manners. He assured full support and help in clearance of debris and land reclamation. He asked Councilor Pheyang to update about the immediate needs and ensure fair and timely assistance in coordination with administration.
Mutup also inspected the road construction work under progress on Choglamsar-Spituk road along Indus River accompanied by EC Tourism, Tsering Sandup. He said that this is one of the biggest road projects under CRF.
He instructed Xen R&B Tsering Dorjey to expedite the work by engaging more man and machine. He stressed on making extra efforts to complete the road construction work by stipulated time period at the end of this year and to ensure quality of work.
Xen R&B Tsering Angchuk informed that construction of 11.87 kilometers road from Spituk to Choglamsar and Skalzangling to Ugling is a project taken under CRF at an estimated cost of Rs 19.74 crores. He added that so far road widening of these two roads has been completed and they are at the last stage of macadamization. He said it’s a double lane road of 7 meters and they have covered 1 kilometer stretched with tar macadam on Choglamsar-Spituk road.
