LEH, June 9: The Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Leh,  Dr  Sonam Dawa Lonpo, along with others, visited  Chokdo after crossing Kongm-aroo-Leh and thus become first CEC to visit this remote village.
Accompanied by EC Animal Husbandry Mumtaz Hussain, councillor Shyu-Markha and officers, the CEC was  given rousing reception by the villagers of  Chokdo and Councilor Martselang Jamyang Tsering Namgyal when they reached there, last evening.
Councilor Jamyang informed CEC that Chokdo village will be connected with road within a week time as construction of road is in full swing at present. He  demanded motorable bridge to connect Skitchan hamlet, compensation for mortality of about 90 sheeps and goats during March-April heavy snowfall in Shang valley, strengthening of electric poles by replacing wooden poles with iron poles, restoration of irrigation headworks, flood protection bunds along the nallah and upcoming new  road and home stay facility for the villagers.
Addressing a public gathering, CEC Dr  Dawa highly appreciated the endeavour of councellor Jamyang in connecting Chokdo village in very short period of time. For construction of bridge to connect Skitchen hamlet, the CEC directed Rural Dev. Dept to make the estimation of the bridge. Regarding compensation for morality of livestock, Dr  Dawa said that a detailed report for entire district has already been submitted with State Government  and hoped for sanctioning of compensation. He directed Xen  PDD for strengthening of electric poles at the earliest and also directed Wildlife Worden Leh providing home stay facility to the leftout families of Chokdo village.
Dr  Dawa urged upon the people of Chokdo, Sumdo and Shang to keep Shang valley neat and clean and carry out   a cleanliness drive in the valley.
On the occasion, CEC  honoured Stanzin Mentok,  who is the first highly educated girl from Chokdo village, presently working as Assistant Professor (Commerce) at Degree College Basoli,  Jammu.
Enroute, CEC inspected the ongoing construction works of Chokdo road.
