KARGIL, June 7: Chairman/ CEC, LAHDC, Kargil, Dr Mohammad Jaffer Akhoon today chaired a meeting at Council Secretariat Kargil with Director of School Education, UT Ladakh to discuss the modalities for strengthening the educational framework in schools of Kargil district.
A statement said the meeting was attended by Executive Councilor for Education, Zakir Hussain, Executive Councilor for Information, Punchok Tashi, Director School Education, Ladakh Tsering Paldan, and Principals of Government Higher Secondary and High Schools.
During the meeting, the CEC reiterated that education remains the top priority of the Council and efforts are being made to strengthen the educational framework in the district.
During the discussion, he sought suggestions from attendees to improve the educational system, especially for adopting CBSE pattern of education for students in the district.
The CEC directed the Education Department to focus on various activities to bring revolutionary changes in the overall educational scenario in the district.
CEC Dr Jaffer instructed that residential coaching programs should resume from July to provide students a learning environment conducive to overall development of students in acquiring quality education.
He proposed the implementation of the CBSE curriculum from grades 5 to 8, with an enhanced focus on English language proficiency and personality development of students.
Dr Jaffer stressed on the importance of aligning examination dates with national schedules to ensure consistency and fairness.
The meeting also discussed the potential expansion of Council Model Schools to improve educational access and quality.
The CEC highlighted the need for robust professional development programs to equip teachers with necessary skills and knowledge in imparting education of contemporary needs to keep the students at par with other regions to compete at national level.
