LEH, May 14: Chairman/CEC, LAHDC Leh, Tashi Gyalson today conducted a site visit to the culturally and historically significant Wanla Lonpo site (Star Kos Tsay) in Taru village.
During the visit, the CEC conducted a detailed inspection of the entire site and surrounding areas identified for development.

The site is already included in the Council’s development plan and work will begin soon to turn it into a community-centric space. The development will also include beautification of the adjoining road and landscape to enhance the overall area.”
The proposed plan includes the construction of a traditional entrance gate with Rik Sum Gombo stupas, a cafeteria, an open-air theatre, tile compound work, and proper landscaping.
The villagers, too, have strongly demanded the protection of the site, considering its deep historical and cultural importance as the dining place of Hon’ble Wanla Lonpo.
The CEC assured the villagers that the work will begin work at the earliest and that all necessary steps will be taken to preserve the site’s cultural identity while developing it into a space that serves the community.
