CDS Rawat visits LoC in Gurez, reviews operational preparedness

JAMMU, July 27: Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Bipin Rawat today visited areas along Line of Control in Kupwara sector and reviewed operational preparedness of Indian Army.
On third day of his ongoing visit to J&K, General Rawat visited Vajr Division in Gurez, Kupwara sector. He reviewed the prevailing security situation and operational preparedness of the Army along the border.
The Chief of Defence Staff interacted with Army Commanders and discussed working of Security Grid in the area, particularly along the Line of Control. He instructed the Commanders to ensure high vigil along the border in view of the prevailing security scenario.
The CDS also interacted with the troops and exhorted them to remain steadfast in their task of defending the Nation. He praised their high morale and alertness under every situation.
On Sunday, General Bipin Rawat had visited the areas along LoC in Drass sector of Kargil district and reviewed the operational preparedness besides interacting with the troops.
Yesterday, on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, he had to accompany President Ram Nath Kovind, who was scheduled to visit Drass for paying homage to the martyrs but the President could not reach there because of bad weather.
Due to cancellation of the President’s visit, CDS Bipin Rawat along with Lt Governor of Ladakh, R K Mathur and Northern Command chief Lt Gen Y K Joshi and three Corps Commanders of Leh, Srinagar and Nagrota paid homage at Kargil War Memorial.
