JAMMU, June 13: A delegation of Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), Jammu, led by its president Arun Gupta met Commissioner State Taxes, Dr Rashmi Singh, in her office chamber here and held discussions on the issues related to trading fraternity.
While interacting with the ST Commissioner, CCI president demanded that the limit of the e-way bills should be enhanced from Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh. Gupta said when GST was introduced, the then Finance Minister Arun Jaitely on the floor of the house said that GST is a good and simple tax, but now-a-days it has been complicated by only few officers by imposing penalties for minor technical mistakes. Some measures must be take in this regard, he added.
Arun Gupta further said that the goods which are shifted from godowns /cold storage to shops should be treated as stock transfer. If there is mention in the bill ” for shifting of stock” from one place to another place, there is no need to generate a fresh e-way bill as it is a technical point and needs to be understood.
Chamber president also apprised the Commissioner State Taxes that as per Industrial Policy the Industrial units in UT of J&K are getting GST reimbursement, but sometimes the refund process is delayed due to one reason or the other. Therefore, it is requested that GST reimbursement should be in a time bound manner.
Gupta further said that some members could not claim the reimbursement of GST from 2017 onwards due to some un-avoidable circumstances. They should be given one last chance to apply for reimbursement claims.
In view of ongoing `Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’, Gupta also requested the Commissioner to hold awareness programme- cum-workshop on GST at Chamber House for the welfare of trader fraternity.
