JAMMU, Feb 20: As part of the National Rural Drinking Water and Sanitation Week, several functions were organized by CCDU, WSSO, Department of PHE, I&FC in collaboration with National Development Foundation, which is a program implementing Agency for Jammu, Samba and Kathua.
District Development Commissioner Jammu A K Sahu, along with Kumar Rajiv Ranjan Executive Director CCDU, Rajiv Malhotra-SE Hydraulic & Rajiv Khajuria chairperson National Development Foundation flagged off the fleet of vehicles which will generate awareness among the people.
It was given out that the Week is being celebrated all over the district under the supervision of District Water Sanitation Mission and various awareness programmes such as seminars, symposiums, debates and stage dramas will be organized during the week.
Speaking on the occasion the Deputy Commissioner stressed on conserving water resources to ensure dependable safe drinking water. For the purpose every citizen needs to be sensitized on the issue, he added.
On the occasion details about conserving water, keeping water bodies clean, provision of incentive for construction of IHHL units to BPL families etc were provided to the people. Deputy Commissioner directed the Department of PHE to conduct more such awareness camps and also conduct water tests on portable water.
