CBK files chargesheet against former executive engineer and four others in a pension case

SRINAGAR, Dec 23: Crime Branch Kashmir (CBK) filed a charge sheet against five people including a former executive engineer and two officers of the Roads and Buildings department in the court of Special Mobile Magistrate Pulwam who had allegedly prepared forged pension papers that caused a huge loss to state exchequer, it was reported on Thursday.
A CBK spokesman said, the chargesheet against former Executive Engineer Roads and Buildings Division Pulwama Ali Mohammad Wani, the then Assistant Accounts Officer Ayaz Mushtaq, Junior Assistant Harbajan Singh, Fazi Begum and an employee Abdul Rashid Laway was submitted in the court of Special Mobile Magistrate Pulwama in the forged pension case.
The spokesman said that the Crime Branch Kashmir received a complaint, alleging therein that one Abdul Rashid Laway Employee of R&B Division Pulwama has fraudulently prepared a fictitious family pension case of his father in favour of his wife in place of the actual claimant.
The Crime Branch Kashmir during the course of enquiry, revealed that the accused persons in furtherance of criminal conspiracy with the concerned officials of R&B Division Pulwama have resorted to falsification of documents and have thereby processed a family pension case in favour of the daughter-in-law of the deceased, as the wife of the accused and showed Fazi Begum as wife of Abdul Rahim Laway (deceased).
He said while the fact is that Fazi Begum was her daughter- in-law.
On the basis of these false documents the family pension was settled by the competent authority and a huge amount was found to have been received as pension by the wife of the accused. As the actual claimant Janna, wife of deceased employee, had expired before the death of Abdul Rahim Laway.
Subsequently prima facie it was disclosed that the commission of offence punishable U/S 420, 468, 471 RPC and accordingly the instant case was registered at police Station Crime Branch Kashmir against these persons and investigation set into motion.
During the course of investigation, it has been established that the accused persons in a criminal conspiracy with each other prepared an illegal pension case by preparing fake pension Book, descriptive Roll certificate and life certificate in favour of Fazi Begum, which caused loss of Rs 9.5 lacs to the state exchequer, the spokesman added.
