CBI presents challan against Maj Gen, his wife in DA case

JAMMU, Oct 26: Central Bureau of Investigation/ Anticorruption Bureau Jammu today presented challan against the then Major General VK Sharma, then posted in Headquarters of Northern Command and his wife Kiran Sharma in a Disproportionate Assets (DA) case.
The case against Major General and his wife was registered on the basis of complaint received from Brig Sanjeev Grover, who was Brig Adm for the GOC-in-C of Northern Command pursuant to the Court of Inquiry held against Maj Gen Sharma.
It is alleged in the FIR that Major General V K Sharma is in possession of assets disproportionate to his known source of income. During the verification, it has transpired that during the check period from January 1, 2001 to June 30, 2012, Major General VK Sharma and his wife Kiran Sharma acquired assets worth Rs 7400939, which were disproportionate to their known source of income.
During investigation, it also came to the fore that VK Sharma and his wife have opened so many accounts in different banks and purchased so many properties and both are in the possession of unexplained assets to the extent of approximately Rs 1,13,51,195.
