JAMMU, Aug 27: Crime Branch today produced challans in the misappropriation and cheating cases in the courts of Chief Judicial Magistrates (CJMs) of Kishtwar and Kathua.
An official spokesman said that a case was registered at Police Station Kishtwar on receipt of reliable information that CA&PD Storekeeper Patimhal, Irshad Ahmed, son of Ghulam Haider Shah had illegally sold some CA&PD sugar to unauthorised person Irshad Ahmed, son of Mohd Akbar of Hatna, Palmar for his personal wrongful gain.
During the course of investigation vehicle containing 4 bags of sugar was recovered from Irshad Ahmed, son of Mohd Akbar, who was arrested on the spot. The case was transferred to Crime Branch for further investigation and Crime Branch today presented challan in the court of law.
The cheating case was registered on a complaint lodged by members of Taxation Bar Association, Kathua through their president Shashi Pal Sharma.
In the complaint it was alleged that one Tarsem Singh, son of Karan Singh of Barwal, Kathua had produced B.Com Degree certificate bearing Enrolment No.00267140 purportedly issued by Choudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut, before Commissioner Commercial Taxes for issuance of Sales Tax Practitioner Certificate and based on that he got the Practitioner Licence. Subsequently, the Commissioner Commercial Taxes on the request of Taxation Bar Association, Kathua got the Degree/Marks sheets verified from the concerned University and found that the same had not been issued by the university.
During the investigation of case, the Degree/Marks Sheets and certificate of authorization issued by Commissioner, Commercial Taxes in favour of the accused were seized and the statements of witnesses under Section 161 CrPC were also recorded. The Degree/Marks Sheets in question were got verified from Choudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut.
It was substantiated that accused Tarsem Singh had passed Higher Secondary Part-II from Govt Higher Secondary School, Barwal. Thereafter, he managed to obtain fake Degree/Mark sheets of Part-I, II & III purportedly issued by Choudhary Charan Singh University Meerut.
After completion of investigation into the case, Crime Branch today presented challan in the court of CJM Kathua.
