CB books two for duping unemployed youth of Rs 52.60 lakh

JAMMU, Nov 2: Crime Branch Jammu registered a formal criminal case against two persons for duping several unemployed youth of their hard earned money by luring them for jobs in Government, private companies and banks.
“The accused persons namely Mohd Rafiq Wani son of Gh Rasool Wani of Levdura (Qazigund, district Anantnag) and Nazir Ahmed son of Ab Majeed Ganie of Banghall Dewser, Kulgam (at present Khanyaer Srinagar) used to run a racket and dupe the unemployed youth by promising them jobs and Government and private sector in lieu of Rs 5 lakh,” a police spokesperson said.
He said that the verification in the case was initiated by the Crime Branch on receiving a written complaint from a young man namely Vikram Bandyal son of Sansar Chand of Jandrah (Kullian), tehsil Dansaal of district Jammu and others.
“In their complaint, the complainants alleged that the accused approached them at Jammu in 2017 and while maintaining that they had links in the Secretariat of J&K Government as well as in the private companies/firms, promised to arranged employment for them in lieu of Rs 5 lakh from each person,” the spokesman said.
He said being desperate for employment, the main complainant paid the amount to the accused who issued an appointment letter in favour of him purportedly signed by Under Secretary Forest Department. “The accused persons along with other persons were running a racket and giving fake appointment letters and issuing authorities to the police agencies to verify the educational documents and the antecedents of the like appointees and collecting crores of money by cheating the innocent unemployed youth,” the spokesman said.
The spokesperson said on verification, all the allegations were found to be true and accordingly, a formal case was registered in police station Crime Branch, Jammu against the accused persons for in-depth investigation.
