JAMMU, Dec 26: Crime Branch has registered a case against a constable, some officials of Regional Transport Office (RTO) and others for indulging in cheating and fraud.
The accused persons are Javed Ahmed alias Sheikh Wasim Ahmed, son of Abdul Sattar of Sopore, constable Bashir Ahmed, son of Gh Hussain of Surankote, Abdul Latief, son of Gh Nabi Lone of Tangmarg, Vinod Singh, son of Jasbir Singh of Gobindpura, Chatha.
According to the Crime Branch spokesman, one Subash Chander, son of Om Parkash Gupta of Canal Road was running the business of motor spare parts and sale/purchase of old/condemned vehicles at Transport Nagar, Narwal Bye Pass.
Some vehicles purchased by him during the normal course of business from accused Javed Ahmed Dar alias Sheikh Wasim Ahmed were suspected to be stolen ones as the documents viz. Bank and Registration Certificates, provided by the accused, on verification were found fake and fabricated.
Moreover, two vehicles bearing registration No JK01K-2494 and PB-48A-4875 purchased by the complainant from the accused person were suspected to be stolen and sold to some other persons by the accused Javed Ahmed. On the receipt of complaint, an enquiry was initiated and a formal case has been registered under Sections 379, 420, 465, 466, 467, 468, 471, 120-B RPC read with Section 5(2) Prevention of Corruption Act, 2006.
Meanwhile, Crime Branch produced challan against the accused persons namely Hans Raj Parihar, SSP (Retd), son of Bhobi Chand of Palmar, the then Manager Stores, Massive Carpet Scheme, Jammu, Tara Chand Sharma, son of Om Parkash Sharma of Bakshi Nagar, the then Senior Manager Massive Carpet Scheme, Jammu (now retired) and others in the Court of Special Judge Anticorruption for hatching criminal conspiracy and embezzlement of raw material as well as carpets from the stores of Massive Carpet Scheme, Jammu worth Rs.8.10 lakh.
