CB arrests fraudster in fake appointment case after 5 years

JAMMU, Oct 10: Crime Branch (CB) Jammu has arrested an absconding fraudster for forging fake appointment orders and cheating unemployed youth.
According to a spokesperson of Crime Branch Jammu, a written complaint was lodged in Crime Branch Jammu by one Radhy Sham son of Chuni Lal, resident of village Kanah, Tehsil Hiranagar, district Kathua, alleging that in the year 2009 complainant came into contact with his son, Swarn Lal of village Mahesha Chak in district Kathua and introduced himself as a Government employee and brother of an Army officer and told him that he can arrange jobs in the Territorial Army in lieu of Rs 1.5 lakh per person.
“As many as twelve unemployed persons were allured by the accused Swarn Lal to pay him Rs 50,000 per head as advance and Rs 1 lakh after getting appointment order and a huge amount was extorted by the accused person along with accused Hamid Dar from unemployed youth at Dayala Chak Hiranagar and after that at Srinagar also,” he said.
The spokesperson said that the accused is a habitual offender and notorious criminal who operates with his associates by adopting same modus operandi and 8 cases are found to be registered against the said gang in various police stations of J&K viz (1) FIR No. 62/2012 of police station Maisuma (Srinagar), FIR No. 36/2014 of Crime Branch Kashmir, FIR No. 27/2015 of Crime Branch Jammu, FIR No 15/2016 of police station Crime Branch Kashmir, FIR No. 65/2016 of police station Crime Branch Kashmir and FIR No 124/2017 of police station Ram Munshi Bagh, Srinagar and FIR No. 7/2019 of Crime Branch Kashmir and more complaints are likely to come forth.
He said on receipt of complaint, a preliminary enquiry was initiated and allegations were prima-facie substantiated and the instant case was registered at police station Crime Branch Jammu against Swarn Lal, prime accused Abdul Hamid Dar alias Zahid son of Sana-Ullah Dar, resident of village Kalantra (police station Kareeri Baramulla), at present living in HMT Opposite Higher Secondary School Zainakot Srinagar, and others.
“Nine FIRs stands registered against the Abdul Hamid Dar but he was not cooperating in the investigation and was evading his arrest since 2015 by changing his locations frequently,” the spokesperson said, adding, he was finally arrested by the Crime Branch in fifth consecutive raid this year in case FIR Number 28/2015 U/s 420, 467, 468, 471, 120-B RPC.
He said being a prime accused in fake appointment racket in Army, Abdul Hamid Dar duped several innocent gullible unemployed youth of their hard earned money.
