JAMMU, Apr 12: The Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) today quashed selection list of Sub Inspectors of Executive/Armed Police which was advertised on December 30, 2016.
The CAT bench comprising Judicial Member Rakesh Sagar Jain and Administrative Member Anand Mathur quashed the list after hearing Senior Advocate Abhinav Sharma appearing for the petitioners.
The CAT further directed respondents to prepare selection list afresh in accordance with law and rules within the earliest possible time from the date of receipt of order copy.
“Fallacy in the selection procedure can be demonstrated by the fact that 275 vacancies were advertised in Executive wing in Open Merit whereas 310 persons were selected. As per the official respondents, the extra selections of 35 candidates belonging to other categories and vacancies in categories have correspondingly been reduced. The procedure is in violation of the settled law that entire reservation quota will be intact and available in addition to those selected under Open Merit category,’’ the CAT observed.
