JAMMU, Feb 2: A massive protest demonstration of casual labourers, need based, ITI trained and CP workers of various State departments under the banner of United Front was held today here at Press Club, Jammu to put pressure on the Government to regularize their services.
Hundreds of casual labourers, need based, ITI trained and CP workers of various departments including PWD, PHE, PDD and PMGSY assembled this morning in front of Press Club of Jammu and staged a massive protest against the Government for ignoring their burning demands including regularization of all casual workers, need based, ITI trained and CP workers engaged after 1994.
The protestors led by vice-chairman, United Front, Jammu, Tanvir Hussain raised slogans against the Government for making false promises time and again regarding regularization of their services. Later, in the form of rally, the protestors tried to move towards Civil Secretariat but police foiled their attempt.
Addressing the protestors, Hussain said, the previous State Government cheated them by making false promises of regularization of around 62000 casual and need based workers working in different departments of the State Government.
Number of committees and sub-committees were framed by the previous Government to resolve our long pending demands but every time the related files were seen gathering dust in the secretariat, he said alleging such a move of the previous Government was mere an eyewash.
The protestors appealed Governor NN Vohra to intervene personally and resolve their long pending demand of regularization.
