Casual labourers demand regularisation of jobs

JAMMU, Sept 29: All Department Casual Labourers United Front here today staged a protest demonstration demanding regularisation of jobs of casual/need based workers working in different departments for the last 25 years.
Speaking on the occasion leaders of the protesters including Shivdarshan Singh Jamwal, Sunil Satoo, Yogesh Singh and others said there are 60,000 casual workers working in different Government departments.
They also claimed that ignoring their regularisation the Government of J&K UT is now recruiting 50,000 employees in different categories including 10,000 Class-IV Cadre by direct recruitment.
The protesting daily wagers also demanded implementation of Minimum Wages Act in J&K and release of their pending wages.
They said that the need based workers should be regularised under SRO-64 in one go before making direct recruitments else they will be forced to start protests and agitation.
Others present in the protest were Ganesh Lal, Ravinder Singh, Rajit Sharma, Rafiq Mohd, Raiz Hamed, Ajay Kumar, Himmat Singh, Parshotam Kumar, Pankaj Sharma, Amit Kumar and others.
