SRINAGAR, Dec 10: National Conference working president,  Omar Abdullah today  expressed serious concern over ATMs in Pir Panjal region being rendered disfunctional for want of cash over the past one week  and said this had become a cause of great inconvenience and misery for the people.
“I have been approached by numerous delegations and organizations from the regions highlighting this issue and the Government should take immediate steps to resolve this problem. Thousands of people are suffering to undertake their day-to-day activities. Access to healthcare has been affected as people are unable to procure medications and visit hospitals. People in far-flung areas in Pir Panjal are finding it extremely hard to buy daily and essential supplies for the last couple of days”,  Omar Abdullah said in a statement.
The National Conference leader demanded  that State Government should ensure all ATMs in Rajouri-Poonch districts  are fully functional and stocked up with adequate cash to resolve this issue without any delay.
Meanwhile National Conference leader and former MLA Poonch, Ajaz Jan has also expressed disappointment over this issue and demanded immediate restoration of ATMs in the region.
