Srinagar, June 28: Police today took cognizance of some netizens uploading and sharing “anti-national” posts on social media with the aim of inciting commission of crimes against police and disturbing public tranquillity.
Police said that a case (with FIR 105/2020 U/S 16,18,38,39 (ULAP) Act) has been lodged in the Police Station D H Pora of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district and further investigation into the matter has been taken up.
“The users uploading the posts that amount to glorification of militant activities and threatening and denting the image of law enforcement agencies have been identified and will soon be arrested,” police said.
A picture of a teenager was posted on social media and it was shown that he has joined militancy. However, he walked into Police Station and told police that someone has done a mischief by posting his picture.
Police advises all citizens to refrain from misuse of social media platforms and circulation of unauthenticated information through such platforms.
