Cardamom futures gain on spot demand

NEW DELHI, May 23: Cardamom prices gained 2.39 per
Cent to Rs 962 per kg in futures trade today as speculators raised bets amid an increase in physical demand in the domestic spot market.
Moreover, lower than expected stocks also triggered the upward movement.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in June climbed Rs 22.50 or 2.39 per cent, to Rs 962 per kg with a trading volume of 41 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in far-month July went up by Rs 13.80, or 1.53 per cent, to Rs 915 per kg with a trading volume of just two lots.
Traders said widening of positions by participants, driven by surge in demand at the spot market against restricted supplies from producing regions, kept cardamom prices higher. (PTI)
