Cardamom futures extend gains, up 0.59% on strong demand

NEW DELHI, Oct 22:  Extending gains for the third straight sessions, cardamom prices traded higher by 0.59 per cent to Rs 869.10 per kg in futures trade today as speculators engaged in enlarging positions, driven by strong demand in the spot market.
Besides, tight supplies in the physical market on limited arrivals from producing regions and some overseas enquiries supported the upside.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in November gained Rs 5.10, or 0.59 per cent to Rs 869.10 per kg in business turnover of 308 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in December traded higher by Rs 1.70, or 0.20 per cent to Rs 849.10 per kg in 58 lots.
Besides, strong domestic and export demand in the spot market, tight supplies from producing belts kept cardamom prices higher in futures trade, analysts said. (PTI)
