NEW DELHI, Feb 22: Cardamom prices fell by Rs 8.20 to Rs 977.70 per kg in futures trade today due to the adequate stocks available in the physical market on higher supply from the producing belts.
Sentiment weakened further as the traders booked profits at the prevailing levels in the midst of a subdued demand for the commodity.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in March declined Rs 8.20, or 0.83 per cent, to Rs 977.70 per kg in a business turnover of 575 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in April traded lower by Rs 6.80, or 0.66 per cent, to Rs 1,013.90 per kg, with a trading volume of 81 lots.
Market analysts said off-loading of positions by traders amid a weak spot market trend on subdued demand mainly led to a fall in cardamom futures prices.
Adequate stocks position in the physical market also influenced trading in cardamom prices, they said. (PTI)
