NEW DELHI, Feb 11: Amid rising demand in spot markets for the ongoing marriage season and restricted arrivals from producing belts, cardamom prices shot up by Rs 19 to Rs 1,004.80 per kg in futures trade today.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in February climbed by Rs 19, or 1.93 per cent, to Rs 1,004.80 per kg in business turnover of 470 lots.
Similarly, spice for delivery in March contract moved up by Rs 11.40, or 1.10 per cent, to Rs 1,045 per kg in 855 lots.
Market analysts said besides strong spot demand, driven by ongoing marriage season, restricted arrivals from producing regions mainly pushed up cardamom prices at futures trade. (PTI)
