RAMBAN, Feb 12: An employee of Social Welfare Department was killed here today when the car he was onboard plunged into a deep gorge at Battery Chashma area on Jammu-Srinagar Highway.
Police sources informed that the ill fated car bearing registration number JK02BC-5019 was moving from Jammu to Srinagar and was allegedly driven rashly due to which the driver lost control over the vehicle and it rolled down the hill.
After the accident cops from Ramban Police Station led by the SHO and including Civil QRT along with personnel of UT DRF reached the spot and immediately started rescue operation and retrieved one Amit Koul, son of Badri Nath Koul, resident of Mattan Anantnag, at present Patoli Brahmana, Jammu who succumbed to his injuries on the spot.
SHO Police Station Ramban, Inspector Vijay Kotwal informed that Police has registered a case in this regard in FIR No. 18/2025 under Sections 281/106 BNS at Police Station Ramban and started investigation. The deceased was working as Social Worker, in District Social Welfare Office, Anantnag.
