JAMMU, Apr 22: Ghulam Fatima, wife of former Minister of State for Revenue Late Ch Mohd Hussain and mother of CAPD Minister Ch Zulfkar Ali and Regional Director, State Pollution Control Board Jammu, Showkat Choudhary, passed away after prolonged illness here last night.
Family sources said that Mrs Fatima was not keeping well for the last few weeks and was hospitalised here. She passed away here during last night. Her body was taken to her home village Tralla, about 14 kms away from Rajouri, falling in Darhal constituency. The last rites of the `mortal remains’ were performed at Tralla village at around 3 pm today.
She was maternal grand mother of Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Shahid Iqbal Choudary. Zulfkar’s elder brother, Shafiq Choudhary who is a senior officer in Cooperative Department placed in Poonch had also arrived at home. The people from all walks of life attended the burial of minister’s mother.
Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, Minister for Education Naeem Akhtar and Minister for Finance Dr Haseeb Drabu arrived in State helicopter to attend last rites of Late Ghulam Fatima at Tralla village this afternoon. They expressed solidarity with the bereaved family and prayed to Almighty to give them courage to bear this irreparable loss. The CM offered Fateha and prayed for peace to the departed soul.
Meanwhile, many Cabinet colleagues, legislators and other functionaries besides bureaucrats offered attended the `Namaz-e-Zanaza’ and condoled the death of PDP leader’s mother.
