JAMMU, Apr 27: A one-day workshop on “Capacity Building of Career Counselors of Higher Education Department” was organized by the Department of Higher Education in collaboration with Directorate of Employment at GGM Science College, Jammu.
The workshop was chaired by Talat Parvez Rohella, Secretary to Higher Education Department. Conveners of Career Counseling Cells of various Government Degree Colleges of Jammu Division attended the workshop.
A team of Career Counseling officers from the Directorate of Employment were the resource persons who gave power point presentations informing the gathering about various aspects of employability and the provisions like scholarships, self-employment schemes, competitive exams as career options, psychometric tests and latest trends in counseling.
The Secretary emphasized on the need to focus on increasing the employability of the students graduating from various colleges of Higher Education Department. He also stressed to strengthen the Career Counseling and Placement Cells in all Government Degree Colleges so that good career opportunities could be provided to all the students based on their potential.
He also directed all the in-charge officers of the Career Counseling Centers of all colleges to initiate the evening coaching classes for various competitive examinations. A total of 40 faculty members from various colleges of Jammu Division participated in the workshop.
