JAMMU, June 12: The irrigation water supply to many villages of RS Pura and Suchetgarh has been snapped as the main canal to the area has breached.
Official sources said that farmers of these two constituencies have been facing lot of hardships as the irrigation was supply to the area has been totally snapped. It happened about three days back after a portion of the canal breached near Dharap village. With this the main canal and its several distributaries turned dry.
Chief Engineer, Irrigation and Flood Control, Kauldip Kumar Magotra when contacted said that over 104 year-old wall near siphon of the canal breached in Dharap area. With this the water supply to the entire sub Division of RS Pura and Pandori- Arnia has been snapped. He said the restoration work has been initiated on war footing and the water will be restored within 2-3 days.
