CAG report on Rafale tabled in Parliament : Congress, BJP clash in Lok Sabha

NEW DELHI: Even as the CAG report on Rafale aircraft deal with France was tabled in Parliament on Tuesday, the principal opposition Congress and the ruling side clashed in the Lok Sabha fiercely with the Home Minister Rajnath Singh accusing the Congress of ‘misleading people’ repeatedly.

Amid the din, Mr Singh said the issue of Rafale has been debated repeatedly in the House and even the Supreme Court has given its ruling.

“But the Congress floor leader (Mallikarjun Kharge) is raising it regularly,” he said adding the politics
is not supposed to be pursued in the manner the Congress leaders have been doing.

Earlier, Congress members trooped into the well of the House raising anti-government slogans and demanding a JPC probe into the controversial deal.

Mr Kharge insisted that the Congress party can prove the government wrong ‘once the JPC probe’ is allowed.

Earlier during Question Hour, Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan reprimanded Opposition especially Congress members saying their conduct in the House was ‘below standard’ and adjourned
the House for about 20 minutes.
Congress members were carrying placards and raising anti-government slogans during Question Hour.

While members including from opposition parties like Trinamool Congress and CPI-M were asking supplementary queries and the respective Ministers were replying, the anti-government sloganeering continued unabated from Congress members.

They were demanding for a JPC on Rafale deal.

Later during Zero Hour, amid the din, the Speaker told Congress floor leader Mallikarjun Kharge that the CAG report on Rafale has been laid in the House by Minister of State for Finance P Radhakrishnan. (AGENCIES)
