JAMMU, Dec 25: Bharatiya Yog Sansthan, (BYS) Jammu held an impressive function to celebrate “Mahila Yog Shakti Diwas” today in its Ashram at Gole Gujral near, here.
The Programme started with lighting of lamp followed by Saraswati Vandana.
Dr Reva Sharma Director, Institute of Management, Public Administration and Rural Development (IMPARD) was the Chief Guest of the function. Jagdeep Padha Joint Director, SAMAGRA Shiksha, UT J&K was the guest of honour.
Speaking on the occasion Dr Sharma said that PM’s vision for Fit@India can be harnessed through Yoga. He appreciated that events like Mahila Yog Shakti Diwas are quite empowering for the women in the society. Yoga has a potential to have a disease-free society, he said.
He congratulated the participants on the eve of MahilaYog Shakti Diwas.
Yogacharya Ved Prakash Rathee,National Executive of the Sansthan, Delhi delivered an informed talk on the topic of management of joint and bone pain through yoga.
Satya Pal, president of the Sansthan earlier welcomed the chief guest and also made the introductory address. He said that in J&K, Bharatiya Yog Sansthan is running 125 Yoga Sadhana Kendras in and around Jammu, Samba and Udhampur. Yoga at these centres is taught daily by expert volunteers (Shikshaks) of the Sansthan free of cost. These classes are attended by a large number of people, both men and women, of all age groups on regular basis.
He said Bharatiya Yog Sansthan, (BYS), is celebrating “Mahila Yog Shakti Diwas” throughout country and abroad every year. This is one of the six important annual functions of the Sansthan.
This event is conducted and managed exclusively by the women Sadhaks, Shikshaks and Adhikaris of the Sansthan. It is all about participation of women in propelling the society into good health and good living through Yog, he added.
The highlights of the function were Samuhik Sadhana by the women Sadhaks, Cultural items presented by the women Sadhaks
