KATHUA, Mar 10: Bharat Vikas Parishad Kathua Unit in collaboration with J&K Bank and Medical Health Department Kathua, organised a free eye check-up camp at Dhorsi, Forelane (Bakhta) in memory of P C Gupta, ex-president, BVP Kathua.
Team of Doctors under the supervision of Babita Bhagat, Senior Ophthalmic Technician from District Hospital Kathua, examined around 250 patients from the near-by villages. Sarpanch Panchayat Forelane West (B), Rajinder Thakur and Pinky Devi, Sarpanch Panchayat Forelane West (A) along with their Panchs had put their efforts in order to make the camp a grand gala success. Organisers ensured that free spectacles are provided to all the patients. The organizers also distributed free medicines to the patients in the camp.
G S Katal, president BVP Kathua, said that such initiatives are helpful for people from the remote villages who cannot afford expensive procedures and medicines. An awareness mela was also organised on the occasion by the J&K Bank.
Present among others, were Prof Ram Murti Sharma, Ashok Gupta, Jai Gopal Sharma, Thuru Ram Mahajan, K K Pargal, Dr Y N Dogra, Shiv Prasad Sharma, Vidhya Rattan Sharma, Hemraj, Ditt Kumar Sharma, Vishal Gupta, Dewan Singh and prominent locals.
