JAMMU, July 8: A businessman was shot dead by two Army jawans and their two associates in broad day light in Ward No 12, RS Pura this afternoon over an old rivalry. However, locals apprehended one of the accused, who happens to be an Army jawan.
As per police sources, Army jawan of Sikh JAK LI namely Manjeet Singh, son of Surjeet Singh of village Shatrian, RS Pura along with his brother Sonu, Territorial Army (TA) jawan Deepak Singh, son of Ramesh Singh, resident of same village and one unidentified person barged into the shop of businessman Vinod Sharma (23), son of Tirth Ram at Ward No 12, RS Pura and enquired about his brother Anil Kumar.
A verbal dual took place and in a fit of rage, Army jawans shot at Vinod Sharma with a gun, leading to his on spot death.
The group of miscreants managed to escape from the spot in cars and motorcycles, but Manjeet Singh was apprehended by the locals after a chase.
Few months back, Manjeet Singh and brothers of Vinod Kumar namely Anil Kumar and Kishore Kumar also had an altercation over some old enmity, which had led to clash. Counter FIRs also stands registered at RS Pura police station in this regard.
In today’s incident, a case under relevant Sections has been registered at police station RS Pura and manhunt has been launched to nab the absconding accused.
