Burglary gang busted; 4 notorious thieves arrested with 80 tolas stolen gold ornaments

JAMMU, Sept 7: Bahu Fort Police busted a burglary gang by arresting four notorious thieves along with 80 tolas stolen gold ornaments worth Rs 50 lakh.
This was informed by Superintendent of Police (SP) South Mamta Sharma while interacting with media persons here today.

Divulging the details, SP said that on February 24 this year a complaint of theft of some gold ornaments was received at Police Station Bahu Fort from a lady namely Neelam, daughter of Shukru Saini of Quarter Number 60-D Railway West Colony Jammu.
“Acting over the complaint, a case FIR Number 58/2022 under sections 454 and 380 IPC was registered at Police Station Bahu Fort and investigation started”, she said, adding that during the course of investigation, a team from Police Station Bahu Fort rounded up four suspects with the help of technical evidences and human resources.
During sustained questioning, they confessed their involvement in said case and on their disclosure stolen gold ornaments were recovered, SP said, adding that all the four accused have been arrested accordingly.
“During further course of investigation, they also confessed that they also committed theft in the jurisdiction of this police station (Bahu Fort) for which cases FIR Number 203/2022 under Sections 454 and 380 IPC, FIR Number 192/2022 under Sections 454 and 380 IPC, FIR Number 132/2022 under Sections 454 and 380 IPC and FIR Number 63/2022 under Sections 454 and 380 IPC have already registered. Moreover, they have also confessed that they have committed thefts at Gadigarh under the jurisdiction of Police Station Satwari, Sidhra under the jurisdiction of Police Station Nagrota, Gujjar Colony under the jurisdiction of Police Station Channi Himmat and in the jurisdiction of Police Station Katra”, SP South Mamta Sharma informed.
The arrested accused were identified as Mehboob Akhter and Ayoub Ahmed, sons of Shamas Din of Kothi Chandyar, Bani at present Telli Basti Bari Brahmana District Samba, Sahil Singh alias Billo alias Shotu, son of Padam Singh alias Balram of Dhad Simni Poond Tehsil Basohli District Kathua, at present Telli Basti Bari Brahmana District Samba and Mohd Irshad alias Shadhu, son of Mohd Saleem of Chowadhi, at present Telli Basti Bari Brahmana District Samba.
On their disclosure, 80 tolas of stolen gold ornaments worth Rs 50 lakh were recovered, SP South Mamta Sharma said.
Police team led by SHO Bahu Fort Inspector Nayat Ali and assisted by PSI Balbir Singh, PSI Adarsh Kant, PSI Sunil Singh, ASI Mohd Sadiq, SgCt Sudesh Raj and Constable Kamal Mustafa made the arrests and recovered the stolen gold ornaments under the supervision of SDPO City East Jammu Syed Zaheer Abbas Jafri, SP South Mamta Sharma and SSP Jammu Chandan Kohli.
Moreover, 30 misplaced mobile phones also traced out by SP South Office Jammu.
