Burglary attempt in J&K Bank branch

MENDHAR, Feb 11: A burglary attempt was made by some unknown persons  in Gursai branch of  the Jammu and Kashmir Bank in Mendhar Sub Division of district Poonch last night.
Officials sources said that some unknown burglars broke opened the outer locks of the main shutter of  J&K Bank branch at Gursai Nallah in Mendhar last mid night and the burglars tried to break the chest containing cash but failed in  their attempt. Some files had also been disturbed in the branch.
In the morning some local noticed the locks broken and informed the guard residing in the same area and also rang up police. The bank staff also came to know about the matter. SHO Gurasai rushed to the spot and they did not allow anybody to enter till Forensic staff team and dog squad reached there from Poonch. After their operation was  over, the Bank manager and staff entered inside and found entire cash intact. Some furniture and files had been disturbed  but the record had not been damaged. Apparently, the thieves had entered with the only intentions to loot the cash.
The police registered a case in this connection and then started investigation. No clue has been established so far. It may be recalled that some time back, similar robbery attempt was made in the J&K Bank branch in Mendhar area. No headway has been achieved in this connection so far.
