Bunkers will provide relief to border denizens: Jugal

JAMMU, Jan 7: Senior BJP leader and MP, from Jammu -Poonch Lok Sabha Constituency , Jugal Kishore Sharma today said that with the sanctioning of Rs 415.73 crore for the construction of bunkers on IB and LoC for the security of the people, Prime Minister, Narendra Modi led Government has fulfilled the long pending demand of hapless border people.
The MP, while talking to media persons at Party Headquarter, here along with MLC, Ch. Vikram Randhawa, BJP State secretary, Sanjay Baru and State press secretary, Dr. Pardeep Mahotra said that it is indeed a matter of joy and satisfaction for the people who had been continuously suffering loss of precious human lives, crops, livestock etc. due to cross border firing.
Jugal said that the BJP has been, in the Parliament and outside, demanding security of the people living on the borders and the Union Home Minister was also apprised of the problems of the people during his visit to border areas in Jammu. The Government at the Centre took the issue seriously and on priority and hence sanctioned Rs 415.73 crore for constructing individual and community bunkers in Samba, Jammu, Katra, Poonch and Rajouri districts of Jammu province as these districts have been worst hit by the firing across the border.
Elaborating and sharing the official communication in this regard, Jugal said that 8 large community bunkers of 800 sq. feet having capacity of 40 persons will be constructed in Samba, 120 large in Jammu, 243 in Kathua, 688 in Poonch and 372 large community bunkers will be constructed in Rajouri, whereas 2515 individual bunkers with size of 160 sq. feet having capacity of 8 persons will be constructed in Samba, 1200 in Jammu, 3076 in Kathua, 1320 in Poonch and 4918 bunkers will be constructed in Rajouri. In total 14460 bunkers will be constructed providing relief to the border residents, he added.
Jugal termed it a big achievement as the individual bunkers would serve as life saver more efficiently and quickly in case of emergency.
The MP further said that the Union Home Ministry has also made a provision for the relief and compensation for housing damages, losses of property, crop losses or livestock losses, relief for stay at relief camps and displacement etc. for those affected by cross border firing.
Jugal also expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh for acceding to the genuine demand of the border people.
