SRINAGAR, Apr 23: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Syed Basharat Bukhari today launched the scanning and digitization work of land records at Central Revenue Record office at Bemina here.
Financial Commissioner Revenue Pramod Jain, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Dr Asgar Samoon, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr. Farooq Ahmad Lone besides other senior officers of the department were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Bukhari said the aim of digitization is to modernize management of land records, minimize scope of land/property disputes, enhance transparency in the land records and facilitate guaranteed conclusive titles to immovable properties in the country.
The Minister was informed that the major components in the digitization include scanning and preservation of revenue documents, data entry of latest Jamabandi and updation with latest mutation records besides digitization of maps with latest data.
The department has hired the services of RAM TECH Software India and assigned the job of scanning, computerization of various old revenue records besides settlement operations to the Agency.
Officials of the RAM TECH informed the Minister that they are using satellite Data Processing for preparation of High Resolutions Ortho rectified Imagery besides setting-up of state wide geodetic control network in line with national frame for survey reference. They said the company will also train officials of Revenue Department for future use of the data.
Bukhari said the State Government has activated the Revenue Department to complete the task of digitization of land records in a time bound manner. The whole operation has been taken up under the Digital India Land Records Modernization Program (DLRMP).
He hoped that computerization would ensure better land record management, minimize land disputes and enhance the overall land record maintenance system in State.
The Revenue Minister exhorted upon the officers to adhere to the timeline of settlement targets and contribute in the preparation of reliable revenue records in the State.
