JAMMU,  Dec 19:  State vice president of National Conference and former Minister Syed Mushtaq Ahmed has  expressed concern over growing traffic congestion and pollution in the capital city of Jammu and sought immediate corrective measures to check the menace.
In a statement here , Mr Bukhari said that the maddening and crowded Jammu roads have become a chronic hazard for pedestrians as also the vehicle-pliers due to mismanagement of the road managers. He said the roads become chaotic during peak hours thereby jeopardizing the movement of school children, office goers and above all, the patients who need to be carried to hospitals.
“The road-jams have become a source of air pollution, which is detrimental to the public health”, Mr Bukhari said while seeking immediate measures to plug the loopholes in traffic regulation and corrective measures to check the level of pollution. In this context, he referred to emergent measures being taken elsewhere in the country and said Jammu and Kashmir cannot afford to lack behind.
The former Minister also criticised the PDP-BJP coalition Government for its abject failure in deliverance and pushing the development to backburner. He said due to wrong policies, the people have been pushed to wall as the administration is showing indifference towards their accumulating problems.
He also expressed grave concern over scarcity of rations at the depots in far- flung and remote areas besides erratic power and water supply, saying the utility services were craving for attention.
