Buddhists’ delegation from Zanskar meets DyCM

JAMMU, Mar 21: A delegation of Buddhists from remote Zanskar area of  Kargil in Ladakh today met the Dy Chief Minister (DyCM) Dr Nirmal Singh here and apprised him of the problems of the people of  Zanskar Sub Division.
The delegation under the banner of Zanskar Buddhists Association led by Tsewang Choster, president of the body, during meeting with the DyCM, apprised him of the issues pertaining to the Zanskar area and sufferings of the people of this remotest area. They demanded separate Assembly constituency for Zanskar, grant of District status to Zanskar, special package for development of surrounding area of Duzin Photang, upgradation of the existing Zanksar Road and creation of  re-creational park at Duzin Photang.
They further demanded assigning of powers of Area Development Officer to  SDM Zanskar, construction of alternative road from Padam to Leh and Darcha, creation of National Highway Division  at  Zanskar, grant of compensation to the victims of communal riots in the area during 2012, release of funds for upgradation of bridal path from Kargyak to Shingkunla in Zanskar, ensuring Helicopter service from Leh to Padum for stranded passengers and airlifting of stranded passengers of Ladakh from Jammu to Leh and Kargil.
The delegation extended gratitude to the  DyCM Dr Nirmal Singh for giving patient hearing to the demands and assuring all possible help in addressing their genuine issues.
