BU Vice-Chancellor arrested when accepting Rs 30 lakh as bribe

COIMBATORE, Feb 3:
Bharathiyar University (BU) Vice Chancellor Prof Dr  A  Ganapathy was arrested by Anti-Corruption Bureau sleuths at his house situated in the varsity campus quarters on Saturday when he was accepting Rs 30 lakh as bribe from one Suresh for filling up the Asst Professor post.
Police said,  on a tip off, the ACB officials went to the Vice-Chancellor’s house and after Suresh made payment of Rs 30 lakh to Ganapathy in the form of  Rs One Lakh in cash and cheque for Rs 29 lakh they arrested him.
The police also searched the VC’s  house.
He was being subjected to an enquiry and soon he will be produced before the Court for sending him to remand, police added. (UNI)
