Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Oct 12: State president of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Tarsem Khullar has alleged that Modi Government in Delhi and Mufti Sayeed led Government in the State were working against the interests of Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs).
Addressing press conference here today, Mr Khullar  referred to the recent developments and court orders pertaining to blanket ban on the promotions out of reservation quota in the State. He said with this decision there is strong resentment among the members of reserved categories and they assume that it has happened with the initiative of Government.
Mr Khullar pointed out that the policies of the Government are framed and dedicated to the masses by the Parliament and Assembly but for the last few years it has been observed that judiciary and bureaucracy have been showing over activism, over and above the law makers in the country and the State. He referred to the catch up rule of the apex court and said that it is going to badly hit a section of the society. He also demanded amendment in reservation rules.
Describing BJP led Gover-nment at the Centre and Coalition dispensation in the State as anti- SCs/STs, the BSP president warned these parties to face tough agitation from the members of reserved class. He said the BSP would fight tooth and nail in protecting the rights of the members of this category. He said that State Government  has not implemented Mandal Commission recommendations in the State and a large population  from this section has been deprived of the benefit which is being enjoyed in the other parts of the country.
The BSP leader said if the Government fails to take adequate  measures to ensure protection of the rights to the members of SC/ST category, the party will launch massive agitation.
Senior leaders SR Majotra, RL Chargotra and Som Nath Dogra also spoke on the occasion.
