BSP condemns Govt for cancellation of BDC elections

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Oct 16: Bahajun Samaj Party (BSP) today condemned the NC-Congress Coalition Government in the State for cancellation of BDC elections on the recommendation of the Core-Group, which had been set into motion on October 3, 2012, with the issuance of notification regarding SC/ST and women reservation.
Speaking in a party meeting held here, its State president, Tulsi Dass Langeh, said that this is just delaying tactics of the Government to avoid BDC elections, either this way or the other, so that the Ministers and MLAs could enjoy the fruits of funds meant for the development, in the shape of commission.
The meeting felt that at the time when all the opposition parties had been demanding implementation of 73rd and 74th Amendment of Indian Constitution in the State prior to BDC and DDC elections, an ordinance in the light of 73rd and 74th Amendments of Indian Constitution could have been issued by the Governor with the approval of the Cabinet, instead of cancellation of BDC elections.
There is no fun of issuance of BDC elections without implementation of 73rd and 74th Amendment of the Indian Constitution, the meeting maintained.
