RAJOURI, Dec 27: The BSNL network including internet services remained affected for hours in Rajouri and Poonch area today putting thousands of people to hardships.
With the break down in the system at around 10 am in the morning, the internet, mobile and landline telephone service in Rajouri and many parts of Poonch including Mendhar and Surankote got snapped. The ATM operation in this entire belt also got affected and the people faced lot of problems.
Sources said that a private company is laying cables for Defence authorities in this belt and they are using JCB. With this a BSNL cable got damaged and it also affected the system. There may be other reasons but the local BSNL officials claimed this is one of the reasons. The services remained effected till this afternoon.
Beopar Mandal president, Rajouri Vijay Gupta alleged that since morning the BSNL operations remained snapped. He said with the worst services of the BSNL company, the people of the area are badly suffering. Neither the senior officers of the J&K Circle of the company bother, neither the Deputy Commissioner takes cognizance of the matter. The customers who are made to pay the hefty bills are not getting proper service. Most of the Telephone exchanges in Rajouri and Poonch are lying defunct and many towers of the company are not functioning.
He said that Beopar Mandal and even the general public held protests many times against the BSNL authorities in Rajouri and Poonch districts but no senior officer of the Company ever cared for it. It is better to wind up its operation if the company is unable to provide better services to the public, Mr Gupta maintained.
