JAMMU, July 23: The CBI tonight arrested a BSNL Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 1,500 from a PCO operator in Poonch district.
SDO Tulsi Ram was arrested while taking a bribe from a person for approving a router of STD/PCO in Poonch.
The amount of corruption was recovered from him on spot in the presence of a Magistrate and independent witnesses, official sources said, adding that the accused official was being shifted here from Poonch and would be lodged in the CBI police station.
Acting on a complaint by the PCO operator, the CBI team laid a trap and caught the official while accepting the bribe, sources said.
They added that a case has been registered against the BSNL officer for further investigations.
