BSNL employees, workers hold one day strike

JAMMU, Dec 15: As part of PAN India strike, BSNL employees and workers held one day strike under the banner of Forum of BSNL Union and Association, J&K Circle, here today against the creation of subsidiary tower company.
The protesters while speaking said that BSNL has come out of financial crunch and is making profits by every passing financial quarter.
“Pro-capitalist Government has been trying to privatize BSNL ever since its creation in 2000”, they said, adding that every effort of the pro-capitalist Governments whether NDA or UPA have been made to render the company sick and finding reasons to privatize it.
They stated that BSNL was not allowed to enter the field of mobile services for four years and the private operators were given utmost opportunity to grasp the growing market, adding that BSNL entered in the mobile market and that too through court verdicts.
“The call rates came down drastically from Rs 14 to Rs 1 paisa per second. Before BSNL entry in the market even the incoming calls were charged by the private operators”, they added.
The protesters said that the BSNL employees and workers are struggling hard to save this national asset and to save people and keep the call charges under control, adding that there are big fishes like multinational companies, which wants to swallow the BSNL and suck the national blood.
They added that it is not out of place to mention here that charges/rates for mobile services are lowest in India than any other part of the world. They said that BSNL employees and workers feel proud for keeping the rates and charges in check and serve the people with smile for which they have been running the programme “SWAS”.
