JAMMU, Feb 16: Jammu Computers Dealers Association (JCDA) said that BSNL has created confusion on demand of broadband connection by the general masses, corporate houses and Government institution.
Addressing a press conference, Dikshit Gupta, President, JCDA said that the Commercial Officers of BSNL are denying the broadband connections to the people who possess their personal broadband modems or intend to buy of their own choice from the open market by showing their internal orders to them, which they cannot do it under any rule or law of land.
He stated that BSNL is forcibly taking this action just because they are the only broadband service providers in J&K, hence to show their might and monopoly in the State by selling their own product.
“Broadband modem being provided by the BSNL is very basic in quality and specifications with no warranty assurance on their modems as well on the power adopters where as various models with much higher specifications are openly available in the market at much better prices and warranty on certain models”, he added.
We are not against the sale of BSNL, but we are concerned if the open market is providing such a variation of models with open choice to the masses, then why BSNL is forcing people with one particular model that too of very low technical specification. BSNL should also keep the entire range of models so that the user can make choice as per his/her technical requirement of the modem, Gupta disclosed.
He added that a according to a circular, it has clearly been mentioned that for exceptional cases where customer insist to use their modem, Commercial Officer of the area is authorized to allow consumer owned modem. But still Commercial Officers of BSNL are showing non-supportive attitude towards the people of J&K, who are unaware of the fact that they can buy the broadband modem of their choice from the open market.
“Apart from the above mentioned modem issue, pathetic broadband service and poor mobile data connectivity of BSNL is also a very big concern these days and BSNL hardly pays attention on these issues”, he added.
Rajeev Majotra, General Secretary, JCDA and other members of the Association were present during the press conference.
