Jammu, May 18 :  BSF Inspector General (Jammu Frontier) Rajeev Krishna today said recovery of SIM cards and mobile phones along the International border in RS Pura area could be a precursor to any infiltration attempt in the coming days.
In the same vein, the BSF officer said “we cannot rule out the possibility of smuggling activity in the border area as well.”
Interacting with the media persons on the sidelines of a function at Jammu Railway Station,  Mr Krishna said, “at present investigation is being carried out by both police, BSF and other intelligence agencies. We  have identified certain individuals on our side of the border who could be involved in the activity”.
The IG BSF warned against possible infiltration attempts and claimed in the last two weeks two  infiltration attempts were made and both were foiled.
He said “we are maintaining strict vigil along the border as per our Standard Operating Procedure. We always look at any smuggling or infiltration activity in great detail to prevent any infiltration bid.”
He said BSF has been given the mandate to protect the International border and political activity in Pakistan has no bearing on the ground situation. He said to deal with the signals from mobile towers on the Pakistani side of the border “we have systems in place and if required we can block the signals.”
